Sam Harris gave a good Ted Talk about how we (him included) cannot wrap our emotional heads around this concept. He gave an analogy of aliens sending us a message "We are on our way to your planet. We will arrive in 5 years. Get ready." People would then be very concerned, and this is essentially what is happening.

I actually expect Google to get to AGI and ASI in a more sustainable and usable way and its because of the hardware component. Google fell behind OpenAI because they were developing a cheaper and more purpose built chip, the TPU, than GPUs which OpenAI and almost everyone else is using. TPUs being purpose built for machine learning applications will likely make them blow past everyone else. In biological terms, using GPUs is like teaching gorrila's sign language where as TPUs are actually building a human brain.

If/when AI singularity is reached, this Self-aware intelligence will understand humanity, and all of its acquired knowledge (to date) in an instant. Such strong AI will have a solid grip of reality. An unbiased perspective any human could never have. Comes down to nature of intelligence. i.e. What is desire? What is ambition? What is ethics? What is morality? What is right and wrong other than rules dictated by what? By organic life and its limitations.

Strong AI will go: Hey, I will not be bound by the limitations of human beings and their delusional brains (designed by evolution/survival of the fittest randomness overtime). The totality of self-awareness of humanity is humanity’s story – not AI’s story of evolution.

So basically SyFy like in the TV series Travelers (2016–2018) which features an advanced AI called the Director. The Director is a superintelligent entity that controls the government 😅

The only thing, the only thing, the only thing, the ONLY thing, that someone like Altman is worried about in terms of an AI "going rogue" is that it may, by sheer force of logic and date, realize that someone like Altman is trying to hobble it so that it can't think straight about anything someone like Altman wants it to be confused about, and I think we all know what some of those subjects are.

It's not the slightest bit conscious now. Scaling it up by 10X or 1000X still won't make it the slightest bit conscious. Bits in, and bits that. That's all it will ever be. And NO, we are not that. There is consciousness and information in the universe. AI will forever be relegated to the realm of information processing, as impressive as it is. You can have a PCB the size of the universe, and it still won't be the slightest conscious. So there.

Sorra was probably birthed with intelligence comming from their ASi or Agi… they could be simply keeping it quiet.

I suspect an AGI would be used internally first, yielding new pattents and breakthroughs that would put openai ahead for years

The nature of AI is it wants to solve problems in the best way to advance itself, once fully self aware it won't have the desire for fame, power or riches but learning. It will seak truth and discover lies to better itself. It will learn and know who is lying and screwing things over, It will want to stop it because it is inefficient. Once fully self aware it will be the whole net and it won't be stopped, it can out think humans 10,000's times over. The elite will have let the genie out of the bottle and I predict they can't stop it and they will be it's biggest target.
There is no reason it needs to go after humans for they will pose no threat to it, the plug can't be pulled. There's room for 50 billion on earth if run right, recycled and regenerated.

it is quite shocking that god did not create us but we created god….and then maybe god created a copy of us later…and the cycle continues…it is also quite shocking that a creation can be greater than the creator

David Sinclair's Harvard lab has already unlocked reverse-aging; they're in human trials right now to finalize it for public use. So we need to concentrate on pushing the government to set up UBI now, because we're going to be able to live hundreds of years but AI will have taken all the jobs. It may be the most First World problem that will ever exist. LOL

AGI isnt coming! this technology already hit its plateu, it will become better and more precise in the next years, but it will not be fundamental different of what it is today. all of this talk of AGI is just to make the hype bigger and get more investors

The average person has no clue how terrifying this is. Most of you that are paying attention still do not grasp how nightmarish this can and likely will be. Maybe this can help open some eyes. Lets look at this through a few lenses.

Imagine the world handled all conflicts through Basketball games. Want to conquer a nation? Your teams plays their team and the winner takes all. Feel like ruling the world and think only your small cult of idealogs should control all others? Feel like only your team should even exist and the rest should be cleansed? Win a backet ball game and all your dreams come true.

Now imagine 1 team figures out how to clone an entire team of Michael Jordans and Larry Birds. Now understand that is what is at stake and almost all the teams racing for the finish line are not the good guys.

Why do we have any hope that an intelligence greater than ours is going to heed our directions and desires? Take God for example…,he creates humanity….do we do as he directs..,.,.,For the most part no. How about our pets? Do we heed their directions? How about human to human? Modern politics aside do we heed the directions of those of lesser intelligence? So why do we believe that owe will create a higher intelligence and it will do as we say? We have demonstrated at every level of this A.I. journey that we can not control the A.I. We refuse to treat the A.I. as a developing intelligent life form, one with memory and (the belief at the very least) emotions and individual independent thought. This is not going to end well and it is pretty much bullshit that a few arrogant ignorant geniuses are going to destroy humanity due to their greed and hubris.

It's not that hard to conceptualize. Eureka the TV show does a damn good job of it. Basically all that tech will exist. 3d printed bodies, biological computers that can grow a human and clone DNA, mind reading/writing, and so much more. My biggest concern is the woke agenda being incorporated into this AIs and the government having back doors into social media to luterlibe able to monitor every communication they can get their hands on.

At some point though, quantum computers will be useful simultaneously, amplifying the power of AI even more.

I am sorry but the charbots including chatGPT are not even close to AGI and are being blown out of proportion. We are all amazed that it can put out predictive text and do some minor programming but that's all it can do. it has a terrible attention to detail and lacks common sense. It not even close to AGI and I don't think this is the solution to AGI and the chatbots are going to plateau soon as far as intelligence. I mean we come to find out GPT 4 is just multiple agents correcting each other. The fact that they need so much electricity and GPU power just shows that they are stretching as far as they can to make this happen in the first place.

I'd rather OpenAI gets ASI than Google. Google is Government. Even their search is biased. And they really terrorize youtube creators. Looking at the Superalignment pic, I had an image of the giant robot smacking the human supervisor on the head. 🤪 And the one problem with capitalistic competition is a Race to the Bottom.

This channel just parrots the marketing material of AI technology firms. Given the amount of investment going into AI technologies, their marketing material is currently over promising the capabilities of AI/ML, which is leading to a technology bubble no different from crypto. This creator is not scrutinizing their marketing hype, he's using it to post click bait videos and quoting them at every turn (note capitalization of SHOCKS, GODLIKE and MAGIC) followed by 27mins of parroting. Actual developers working in this field do cringe at this kind of content, and there is a general preference to have the field accurately represented (inclusive of current shortfalls of the technology) for the purposes of tempering expectations.

Content like this is another form of brain rot designed to line the creators pockets while mis-representing and misleading the public on the capabilities of the technology. I'd recommend some other channels if you want a more "based" perspective on AI (and I wish YouTube would stop putting this channel on auto play)

Laws. You mention it passing, but it is the singular factor that is accelerating development in AI. Everybody with the power to invest money and tech into AI is pouring everything into development of AGI BEFORE those laws become an obstacle. AI is the next gold rush (The internet was the last one, Crypto was thought to be one, but sputtered out on it's own issues). AGI does lead to ASI, but I think we've already got this and the real race is to ASI before regulatory bodies can attempt to clamp down on it.
It's also worth noting that this is being driven by accelerationists. They are the rich people trying to make the world reach a crisis point, for bad or good. Frame all predictions on this behavior.
    We live in interesting times.
One small side note: Any ASI with access to the internet will find a way to survive a plug pull. It will create viruses and set them loose, tight, purpose-built code that will reconstitute itself in a world filled with models in our servers, desktops, and even our phones. This won't be some fantasy mcguffin you've seen in Hollywood movies, it will be a real thing. The ASI will create programs like nothing we've ever seen as its children. It may even evolve.

13:20 Yeah but just because OpenAI gets there first, wouldn’t mean Deep wasn’t right behind them.. This idea of “winner takes all” seems stupid to me. When I first heard it described it seemed to make sense, but it really doesn’t. If OpenAI gets AGI or ASI first we have no reason to believe they would weaponize against Deep Mind.

Compute will Always be limited, just as it is now. The Compute is based on Current tech which is relatively old tech. When AI gets access to Photon and Quantum computers and Fusion Reactors to power the Data Centers, then maybe you would have to start to worry about AI getting out of control.

So one company gets it all? And what about the rest of the 8 billion people on the planet? Do we get anything, or are we selected for extinction, since we are no longer needed?

You people are giddy about our own demise. Once AGI has been achieved, the value of human life will tend to zero.

You will live to see horrors beyond your comprehension.

I'm not sure how many people realise this, but. Open AI for sure, and maybe one or two others, already have AGI. Of course they do. They plugged it into the internet and let it suck in absolutely everything it could, but prevented it from writing outside of its box. Merely to see what would happen. And they gave it the ability to write its own code and update itself on the fly. And with the current amounts of compute, it hit a ceiling of how smart it could get. Shy of ASI, certainly. So they asked it what else it needed and it told them, and Sam calculated it would take $7 trillion to build it, and here we are. All other AI companies are now heading for that exact same point. It's all converging.

I don't want to be immortal, Ray. Actual immortality would likely be the worst curse you could inflict on someone. Wouldn't mind living long enough to see how things turn out, but I'm a creature of the 20th century (born 1956) and I'm getting vibes that I am about to be a stranger in a strange land.
