Ghost-Note, the dynamic fusion group led by Snarky Puppy’s Robert Sput Searight and Nate Werth, has announced the release of their upcoming third album titled “Mustard n’Onions”. The album, set to be released on April 19th through Mack Avenue Music Group/Artistry Music, will mark the group’s first new LP in six years.

The band has also treated fans to a taste of what’s to come with the release of the single “Grandma’s Curtains”, featuring the renowned blues-rock guitarist Eric Gales. The track exudes a fever-pitch funk vibe with a touch of psychedelic-soul, drawing influences from ’70s soul legends such as Tower of Power and Sly and the Family Stone.

Aside from Eric Gales, “Mustard n’Onions” boasts an impressive lineup of guest musicians, including the late R&B/jazz icon Bernard Wright, who tragically passed away in 2022. Other notable collaborators on the album include Karl Denson, Casey Benjamin, Mark Lettieri, Jay Jennings, Travis Toy, Marcus Miller, and Ghost-Note’s very own MonoNeon.

The genesis of Ghost-Note can be traced back to Sput and Werth’s time performing together in Snarky Puppy, where their musical partnership flourished. Over the years, the duo developed a unique chemistry and telepathic connection that laid the foundation for Ghost-Note’s distinctive sound. What started as a beat CD project eventually evolved into a full-fledged band with a dedicated focus on creating music that defies genres and pushes boundaries.

“Mustard n’Onions” showcases the growth and cohesion of the ensemble as they hone in on their sound and identity. Compared to their earlier release “Swagism”, the new album reflects a more mature and definitive sound, shaped by the camaraderie and chemistry that has developed among band members through years of touring and collaboration.

The album, set to be released on limited edition orange/yellow eco mix vinyl for Record Store Day, features a diverse tracklisting that highlights the band’s versatility and musical prowess. Tracks like “JB’s Out! (Do It Babay)”, “PoundCake”, and “Bad Knees” are just a few of the standout songs that showcase Ghost-Note’s eclectic and genre-bending approach to music.

In addition to the album release, Ghost-Note has also announced a series of tour dates across the US and Japan, giving fans the opportunity to experience their high-energy live performances. From jazz festivals to intimate club shows, the band is set to bring their infectious groove and dynamic stage presence to audiences around the world.

With “Mustard n’Onions”, Ghost-Note continues to push the boundaries of modern fusion music while paying homage to the soul and funk legends that have inspired their sound. The album is a testament to the band’s creative vision and musical prowess, solidifying their place as one of the most exciting and innovative acts in contemporary music.
